This graphical representation allows you to show data separated into categories with relative numbers. Here's an example:

This guide will teach you:

  1. Setting up the widget
  2. Widget logic rules

1.3 Widget placement & Size

Start by adding a Chart Title which will be displayed at the top of the graph.

Then it's time to get into the details:

  1. Dimension name - this is the legend that will be displayed underneath the graph describing what each bar is showing.
  2. Metric name - the name that will be displayed on the left-hand side of the graph, labeling the graph. This name should describe the category the column is displaying, for example, different topics or areas of skills.
  3. Metric color - click on the color selector to choose what color each column should be. You can make all bars the same color, or choose a different shade for each bar.
  4. Metric value - for each column, choose which value should be displayed. Use the drop-down list to select one of the Variables. If you have, for example, created question blocks with questions on 3 different topics, the first metric value might be the score for question block 1.
  5. Add Metric - click here to add another bar to be shown on the graph. Each metric displays one bar on the graph, and you can add as many as you need. If you have made a few question blocks, you may want to add a metric so that a bar will be displayed showing scores achieved for each question block.
note
NOTE

If you change your variable data, you must collect a new response in order to preview your graph.

You can also add negative values into your dimension metrics as shown below.

1.2 Widget settings

Once you've set up the bars, give your graph a widget name and titleThen, you can adjust a number of elements of the y-axis:

  1. Y-Axis scale interval - use the arrows or enter a value to determine the spacing of the scale. In the example graph above, the scale interval is set at 20.
  2. Y-Axis max - use the arrows or enter the maximum value that should appear at the right-hand end of the scale.
  3. Y-Axis title - this is the label that will be shown immediately under the y-axis.
  4. Set number of decimal places - choose here whether you want to show data values with any decimal places or none (just set to 0). Keep it simple - more than 2 decimal places may overload the graph with too much data.
  5. Y-Axis gap width - this is the spacing or gap in between the columns. This will adjust the gap width in percentage, and also increase or decrease the bar width.
  6. Chart type - choose how you want your graph to be displayed

TIP

To make advanced design changes to the graph, you can add custom CSS.

1.3 Widget placement & Size

Choose how you would like to align your widget. You can choose to align it to one side and have explanatory text or another widget on the other side or center it.

PDF: Bar Chart- widget placement and size

  • Left - widget will be aligned to the left side of the page, in a column layout
  • Center - widget will be presented centered across the entire page from the left to the right (full width)
  • Right - widget will be aligned to the right side of the page, in a column layout

If you would like a widget to appear side-by-side the graph, make sure to set the widget aligned on one side of the page, and the graph on the other. For example, choose to align the text widget to the left, and align your graph to the right.

Use the arrows or enter a value for the graph height and width. If you choose to place the graph on either the left or the right side of the page, the graph will be automatically resized.

If you want a quick preview to check how everything will be displayed, make sure you have at least one response. Then, simply click Save and Test PDF at the top of the page.

2. Widget logic rules

If you want to only show this widget under certain conditions, it's time to set the widget logic rules. If you want to show a general widget that is visualized every time a PDF report is generated, you can choose not to include a widget logic rule. Learn more about Widget Logic

Once you've saved your logic rules, don't forget to Save changes and you're ready to add more widgets!

What's next?

  • Conditional Rendering is a way of displaying elements based on a condition. It allows you to create simple conditions inside a widget and reduce the number of widgets and rules. With Conditional Rendering, you can render different UI markups based on certain conditions.
  • The custom results by respondent table is a dynamic type of widget that will add records automatically to the table once you have set it up. You can set the maximum number of records to show and set the table to sort records from low to high or high to low.
  • The PDF text widget allows you to write and display your content in your report. You can use it to give further information about questions, give feedback or explain a particular answer. This is an absolutely essential building block of your PDF report.
