In this article, we will focus on the following pie and donut chart widgets:

  1. Pie chart
  2. Donut chart
  3. Semi circle pie chart
  4. Semi circle donut chart

1. Pie chart

A pie chart is a circular chart divided into slices, each representing a proportion of the whole. Each slice’s size is proportional to the quantity it represents.

Use cases:

  • Showing proportions of categories
  • Visualizing part-to-whole relationships
  • Comparing relative sizes of data segments

Common data to use in an assessment:

  • Survey response distribution
  • Departmental budget allocation
  • Breakdown of assessment results by category

You can drop categories, teams etc on to the chart to see the distribution.

In the pie chart settings, you can decide to show values as percentage.

In the Legend section you can adjust the position of the legends.

2. Donut chart

A donut chart is similar to a pie chart but with a hole in the center. This format allows for additional information or labels to be placed in the middle.

Use cases:

  • Displaying proportions with an added central label
  • Highlighting key metrics in the center
  • Comparing parts of a whole with a modern look

Common data to use in an assessment:

  • Distribution of responses by type
  • Performance metrics by category
  • Allocation of resources by department

3. Semi circle pie chart

A semi circle pie chart is a variation of the pie chart where only half of the circle is used. It represents proportions similarly but offers a different visual style.

Use cases:

  • Highlighting key parts of a whole in a unique format
  • Making space for additional information above the chart
  • Comparing fewer categories with clarity

Common data to use in an assessment:

  • Breakdown of assessment results

  • Division of project resources
  • Percentage of completion by phase

You can change the border radius of the chart depending on your preference.

4. Semi circle donut chart

A semi circle donut chart is a variation of the donut chart, utilizing half of a circle with a central hole. It combines the features of both a semi circle pie and a donut chart.

Use cases:

  • Displaying proportions with an additional label space in the center
  • Providing a clear and distinct visual comparison
  • Enhancing visual appeal while showing part-to-whole relationships

Common data to use in an assessment:

  • Allocation of tasks by team
  • Survey response distribution
  • Comparison of assessment results by category
